There were some fantastic performances from the Southam College runner at this morning’s Cross-country Championships at Stratford High School. The Inter Boys (Yr 11 & 10) kicked us off, with Oliver W. producing a great run to beat many older students and headed home the rest of the team, James E., Jasper J and Charlie L.
The Minor Boys (Yr 7) were next and the impressive Emilio F. produced a promising run, followed by Charlie C. and Finn S.
The Minor Girls were our strongest overall team, packing well to finish as a team, Holly A., Tammy M, Bella B., Summer G and Lily R.
Our Junior Boys (Yr 8 & 9) battled well around the open and twisting course, with Ollie M, followed by Max C. and Oliver L. all competing admirably.
Performance of the day, though, came in the Junior Girls, the last race of the day. Running against girls in Yr 9, Rosa W. worked her way through the field and powering passed the leading athletes into second place, pressuring the long time leader and finishing in an impressive 2nd place. Behind her, Esme Du B., Lexie T., Zara S., and Tilly A. all ran well to challenge for the team title.
Congratulations to you all and I look forward to more Cross-Country success in the weeks to come. It could be the start of a promising season for our Southam College runners.
