The planned Rugby matches against Camp Hill Birmingham this weekend are postponed. It is hopeful that we can play them mid-week in the new term after Christmas.
Students, staff, and tutors are being asked to create shoe boxes for both male, female, adult, or child in support of the local Helping Hands community project and Migrant Help UK.
All shoe boxes to be placed on the table by reception by Wednesday 8th December 2021.
Thank you to all students who showed an interest in attending the trip. The trip was oversubscribed and therefore on this occasion, we had to draw names and disappoint some students who are not able to come. Students whose names were randomly selected should have received a letter via email to inform them that they have been successful in securing a place.
There will be a short meeting at lunch 12:40 in ML1 on Monday, 13th December to finalise travel arrangements.
Please see Mrs French or Mrs Bishop if you have any questions.
Year 8 had their second game of the season Wednesday night. The first quarter started strong with Southam leading 3-0. In the second and third quarter Aylesford fought back with the score reaching 7-6 to Southam. In the last quarter the team really pulled together. Excellent shooting, defensive pressure and interceptions throughout the court led to Southam winning 8-7! The squad consisted of Aoife, Phoebe B, Charlotte, Alexia, Phoebe H, Hannah, Scarlett, Isla and Sienna.
Well done to Charlotte who received player of the match from the opposition and thank you to our supporters who braved the cold!
Well done team!
Miss Carro
On Tuesday evening a strong Y8 Rugby squad travelled to Harbury RFC for a highly anticipated fixture against Kenilworth School.Nearly 100 people braved the cold temperatures to watch two competitive sides battle for supremacy. They did not leave disappointed, as two teams with contrasting styles of play put on a show.
Mr Lowdon caught up with powerful forward Tom O-M after the game to get his assessment of the game.
23rd November under floodlights at Harbury RFU.
15 boys from Southam College played an amazing team from Kenilworth. Southam tackled well and they supported each other in defence. Attack wise we were strong through the rucks and mauls and with pace in the backs meant Southam scored three tries and only conceded 2 tries.
The pressure from Kenilworth in the last few minutes was intense but they had not realised the power of Southam tackles.
Well done to all and we look forward to our next match.
Sophia in Year 12 will be creating and selling her craft keyrings in support of her National Citizen service project. All money raised will go to creating essential backpacks for local homeless and vulnerable people this winter.
Sophia will be selling her craft keyrings for £3 every lunchtime outside reception from Tuesday 30th November.
Thank you for your support
The MFL department are planning a trip to the Frankfurter Christmas market in Birmingham on Thursday 16th December (afternoon).
If you are interested in going collect a letter from ML1 or your German teacher and return your permission slip to the green box by the student office.

Our Year 8 Textiles students are really enjoying their slashed cushion project. Students have tackled hand sewing techniques, sewing machine skills and even inserted a zip.
Well done. Year 8 Miss Sinden
Well done to Matilda, Year 8 as her entry for the Southam Lions International Peace poster competition has now been chosen to enter the first round of the local competition.
Students were asked to create a piece of artwork in response to the theme, ‘We are all connected.’
Well done to Toby and Eliana who came runners-up!
Good luck Matilda for the next round.
