Year 9 Football

Southam V Princethorpe

The year 9s took a short trip to Princethorpe as they looked to bounce back after they suffered a tough loss against Kenilworth last week. The year 9s started well and clearly full of confidence as they created some good chances early on but failed to convert. Princethorpe took the lead after a composed finish by their number 9. Southam were battling up the slope in the first half and managed to gain a goal back via a deflected strike by Ethan who claims it was going in anyway. Southam went into the break level at 1-1 and confident as they were going to be kicking downhill in the second half. Southam played some much better football in the second period, but Princethorpe always looked dangerous going forward. With 10 minutes to go a lovely reverse through ball from Jamie set Alex through on goal which he managed to slot effortlessly into the bottom left corner. Southam managed to hold out for a 2-1 win in a brilliant comeback.

Some outstanding performances from Frankie (had to leave before the end so not in the team photo) in goal who made some top saves and some brave claims and Jack who defended brilliantly all game, but everyone played their part!
