The year 9s took a short trip to Warwick to play Myton School on a busy evening of fixtures.
The year 9s started well but could not find the back of the net in the first half despite linking up well. Myton looked dangerous on the counterattack but Southam’s defence managed to contain the threat. In the second half Southam conceded a scrappy goal after not being able to clear the ball from a corner. After going a goal down, Southam got the ball on the floor and managed to play some really nice football with the three midfielders, Jamie, Eva and Ethan linking the play really nicely which was rewarded with great goal by Alex after link up play from Luca and Tom. With 10 minutes left on the clock, Jamie struck a ball on the half-volley which nestled into the bottom right corner and gave the keeper no chance to make it 2-1 to Southam. Eva came close to making it 3-1 as the Myton keeper tipped her shot onto the crossbar and despite not getting the goal she deserved, Eva earned Southam’s player of the match award with a dazzling performance.
The game ended 2-1 and every player represented the school brilliantly.
