Southam V Bablake
On Saturday 4th February, the year 9 Rugby team made up one of the 3 teams travelling to Coventry to compete with Bablake in what was set to be a good contest.
Southam warmed up quickly and with purpose as they prepared for their first game of the new year after a positive end to 2022, which set a tempo and a standard for the game to come. Southam started well and were rewarded with a quick try which gave the year 9s confidence to push on throughout the first half, with multiple tries converted by Joe and Jamie who shared the kicking tee. These tries included a blistering run and finishes by Jacob and Jack. Southam scrummaged brilliantly and contested well at the breakdown. The team made fine tackles throughout the game which helped Southam go into halftime at 26-0 up. In the second half, Southam’s scoring slowed down through some great defensive work at the breakdown by Bablake until Sam broke through the lines and skipped through two tackles to take the final score to 33-0. A great performance and result to end the Rugby season.
Training continues Wednesdays to keep sharp for next year and potentially for any friendly fixtures before the summer term.
